All the specialists in our network are independent clinicians who share the VEMSA vision of virtual patient-centric emergency care – one that is built on genuine trust, continuity of care, and clinical excellence.

Dr Karim Moussa is an Australian emergency physician and Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM), with extensive experience across both public and private emergency departments.
As a clinician, a father of three, and a long-term user of the healthcare system himself, Dr Moussa understands healthcare from both sides, delivering care under pressure, and navigating the system as a patient and parent.
Having trained and practised within Australia’s emergency medicine system after migrating in the late 2000s, Dr Moussa developed a deep appreciation for the complexity, stress, and fragmentation patients often face when seeking timely, coordinated care. These insights, combined with years of frontline emergency medicine experience, shaped his belief that patients deserve more than the rushed, episodic interactions that result in them feeling lost and alone in trying to sort out the next step.
Dr Moussa founded VEMSA to address these gaps by building a specialist-led, clinically governed virtual hospital model focused on continuity, trust, and patient advocacy. Under his leadership, VEMSA is designed to support patients through every stage of their care journey, from initial assessment to system navigation, follow-up, and recovery.
His approach to medicine emphasises calm decision-making, teamwork, and responsible clinical leadership. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Moussa is actively involved in mentoring doctors and nurses, and teaching resilience, decision-making under pressure, and sustainable performance in high-stress environments.
Through VEMSA, Dr Moussa’s mission is to ensure Australians have access to expert, compassionate, and coordinated care, wherever they are, whenever they need it.
