VEMSA is changing the way virtual emergency healthcare works in Australia. Founded by an emergency doctor who understands the limitations of the Australian healthcare system, we are a new generation of virtual ED.
Virtual healthcare is often a one-off, transactional interaction. But with VEMSA, our clinicians provide ongoing care where appropriate, so that they get to know you and you get to know them – just like you do when seeing a doctor regularly in person. Our secure centralised database is accessible anywhere in Australia by authorised VEMSA clinicians, so you get the same quality care by a doctor who knows your medical history no matter where you are in the country.
Not only does VEMSA give you immediate attention from an emergency specialist doctor whenever you need it, but you also get access to a network of other medical specialists for referral where needed, including respiratory specialists, gynaecologists, neurologists, cardiologists, paediatricians, geriatricians, and more. Where you may be waiting months for a face-to-face appointment with a specialist, with VEMSA you may be seen within days.
Dr Karim Moussa MBBCh FACEM is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine and practising emergency physician across both private and public Australian hospitals. He created VEMSA with a vision for a virtual emergency healthcare service built on patient trust and genuine clinical responsibility, not rushed one-off interactions driven by high volume and financial profit.
VEMSA is more than a virtual emergency department, it delivers a hospital-style multidisciplinary approach to care, connecting patients with emergency physicians and specialist teams through a coordinated virtual care model. Our system is designed for coordination and collaboration, with clear communication between your virtual specialist and your referring doctor and care team, including a professional handover between clinicians where appropriate so that nothing slips through the gaps.
