VEMSA is an emergency medical service delivered entirely remotely, with escalation and referral to in-person care where appropriate. We are founded by a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) emergency medicine specialist with extensive experience across the Australian healthcare system and a deep understanding of its strengths and limitations.

We exist to provide timely and specialist-led virtual care, accessible Australia-wide, to anyone with a Medicare card. Through VEMSA, you can access prompt senior emergency medical advice when your health concern requires urgent assessment, but may not need immediate in-person hospital care. Our trained clinicians also provide prompt medical care and advice for minor health concerns, general medical issues, or if you need a pharmacy script, medical certificate, or pathology or imaging request. No health concern is too small.
Prior to connecting with an experienced clinician, we will securely collect your personal details, and ask you to review and agree to the relevant consent forms. With your permission, your consultation notes can be shared with authorised clinicians and clinical teams to support continuity of care.
Your initial virtual consultation with an emergency-trained clinician will involve a structured clinical assessment.
Emergency medicine specialist input is immediately available whenever required and completely bulk billed.
Your online emergency doctor will provide specialist-level diagnosis, management, and next steps. This may include further investigation, referral to another specialist on the VEMSA network, or direction for hospital attendance where appropriate.
Once the acute phase has been managed, VEMSA provides ongoing virtual follow-up with your emergency medicine specialist as clinically required, related to the same health concern.
Follow-up may include review of progress, discussion of results, and reassessment if symptoms change or worsen. If at any point you are concerned about deterioration or unsure about your care plan, you can contact VEMSA for further review.
