At VEMSA, virtual care is only provided when it is safe. If in-person assessment, treatment, or monitoring is required, we escalate promptly through the appropriate pathway, including ambulance services via Triple Zero or hospital emergency care where indicated.
Our clinicians are experienced and highly-trained in delivering telehealth. This means being particularly vigilant about red flags and warning signs.

VEMSA delivers care through a coordinated clinical team. You will begin with a structured clinical assessment conducted by an experienced clinician, focused on gathering relevant clinical information, clarifying risk, and initiating appropriate next steps.
Where additional expertise is required, your care will be escalated to an emergency medicine specialist (Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine, FACEM) for senior decision-making and definitive management. If specialist input is indicated, VEMSA coordinates timely access to relevant non-emergency specialists within our national network.
Our clinicians work cohesively to ensure patients receive the right care they need, at the right time, with clear communication and continuity throughout the episode of care.
When investigations such as blood tests or imaging are arranged, VEMSA follows up results and organises review appointments to discuss your findings and determine the most appropriate next steps.
