Minor Injuries and Acute Illnesses Call VEMSA for minor injuries and acute illnesses

Many minor injuries or acute illnesses need prompt medical attention to address discomfort or pain and to prevent further deterioration, but aren’t suitable for presentation to a hospital emergency room.

Which injuries and illnesses can be treated virtually?

Our VEMSA clinicians are trained to diagnose and manage a wide range of minor injuries and acute illnesses via telehealth. An emergency-trained clinician will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and initiate a management plan. If necessary, they will escalate your case to an emergency physician, who can provide specialist-level care within minutes.

Virtual emergency care is not suitable if you or someone you are caring for has suffered a significant injury, including major trauma or uncontrolled bleeding, or if the illness is life-threatening – please call Triple Zero or attend hospital immediately.

Call VEMSA to receive immediate care for injuries and illnesses such as:

  • Asthma flare-ups
  • Chest infections
  • Respiratory viruses, such as the flu, common cold, or COVID
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sprains, strains, and other soft tissue injuries
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and constipation
  • Minor fractures, such as those from stress or overuse
  • Minor burns
  • Injury to your skin from a cut or graze
  • Women’s health concerns, including spotting during early pregnancy, or unexpected bleeding between periods
  • Insect and spider bites or stings

…and more, including ear, nose, and throat conditions, illness in children, mild allergic reactions, and mental health conditions.
