What is VEMSA?

VEMSA is an Australia-wide virtual emergency department operating 24 hours, seven days a week, providing specialist-led emergency care for non-life threatening conditions including both urgent and minor health concerns, general medical advice, as well as medication scripts, pathology or imaging requests, and medical certificates. All our clinicians are highly trained in telehealth, and emergency medicine specialist input is immediately available as required.

We go beyond initial management, offering specialist referral, ongoing follow-up, facilitate hospital admission, and provide post-discharge care where needed.

All consultations with our emergency medicine specialists are bulk billed with no out-of-pocket costs.

Consultations with a non-emergency medicine specialist on the VEMSA network may incur additional fees.

  • Accessible online, any time, without referral
Our emergency-trained clinicians are available via video telehealth at any time of day or night, seven days a week without a referral, so that you can get the care you need when you need it.
  • Expert, Australia-based emergency care
All VEMSA clinicians are located within Australia, AHPRA-registered, highly experienced within their respective fields, and familiar with Australian healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Appropriate and timely escalation
Get prompt treatment with direct escalation through Australia’s healthcare system, whether to a VEMSA specialists network or physical hospital.
  • Follow-up and continuity of care
VEMSA emergency doctors review blood tests and radiology results requested during the consultation and follow up patients during the day to ensure results are acted on and appropriate care is arranged.

Our Services VEMSA provides emergency-adjacent virtual care designed to reduce unnecessary emergency department presentations while ensuring patient safety.
